Semiconductor and EUV-Lithography

Computers and tablets are getting flatter from version to version. Cell phones and smartphones are becoming smaller and more complex. For this reason, the semiconductor industry has had to constantly contend with the challenge of producing ever more powerful yet more cost-effective microchips since its inception.

For more than 40 years, optical systems have been supplied as key components for chip fabrication and miniaturization, paving the way for international chip manufacturers to achieve higher productivity. Optical lithography requires structures below 45 nanometers: one of the most promising approaches to create these structures is offered by EUV lithographyEUV lithography is a process that uses electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength of 13.5 nanometers - so-called extreme ultraviolet radiation.

The mechanical design must meet extremely strict requirements for this process, since the vibrations of the machine must not be transmitted to the optics under any circumstances during the exposure procedure.


More flexible and efficient manufacturing solutions in demand

Aging societies, higher disposable incomes, better medical care and, at the same time, increasing cost pressure in the healthcare sector characterize the environment for medical technology. However, all these developments promise one thing: The market for medical technology products remains attractive. It will continue to grow, and with it the challenges.

Generative manufacturing processes are expanding the product range in medical technology. Generative processes enable components with new functions that cannot be produced by conventional means using machining. Such processes expand the possibilities of component production.

To find oil you need to drill

Global primary energy demand is expected to grow by more than 40 percent over the next 25 years. Meeting this demand will require a wide range of energy resources of which oil and natural gas still account for the largest share.

But about half of the conventional oil resources needed by the end of the next decade have yet to be developed or even found. To lift new oil resources from unconventional and hard-to-reach sources to make up this shortfall, new technologies are needed for safe and economical recovery .


With high pressure
