Training as a cutting machine operator
Training as a cutting machine operator starts in our training workshop at our plant in Wenden. There you will work on ultra-modern DMG machines and learn everything there is to know about the profession.
This also includes planning and producing their own trainee projects, such as building a motor or bottle opener.

It is very important to us that our trainees not only have the most instructive but also an unforgettable time at BERGHOFF. That's why we have been planning our trainee days regularly for several years now and organizing eventful excursions.
Whether climbing, skiing, hiking, at Phantasialand or laser tag - the
#berghoffteam is unbeatable.
Since 2007, we have been taking advantage of the possibility of joint training for industrial trades, which is supported by the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia with funds from the European Social Fund (ESF).

Yes, for the commercial profession we require at least a secondary school leaving certificate.
For apprenticeships in production or logistics, we require a good secondary school leaving certificate.
The training workshop for cutting machine operators is located at the plant in Gerlingen (Im Ruttenberge 6). In the course of the three-and-a-half-year apprenticeship, our machinists spend around 6 months on training courses and vocational preparation courses at our partner EMG in Wenden-Hillmicke.
Half of the industrial mechanics are trained at the Gerlingen plant and half at the Drolshagen plant, as are the warehouse logistics specialists. The industrial clerks are trained at the main site in Drolshagen and go through all specialist areas there, such as purchasing, financial accounting, HR, sales, logistics, etc.
Unsere Auszubildenden erhalten je nach Ausbildungsjahr von 1.000€ bis 1.400€.
Like all other employees, trainees receive 30 days' annual leave.
We base this on where our trainees live. The productive trainees (machinists and industrial mechanics) usually attend the vocational school in Attendorn in block or part-time classes, i.e. twice a week). Industrial clerks (m/f/d) and warehouse logistics specialists (m/f/d) normally attend school in Olpe. However, if an apprentice comes from the Bergisch region, it is also possible to attend the Oberberg vocational college. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)
Our trainers are permanently available to all trainees as contact persons. There is a permanent mentor for the trainees in each department.
As a general rule, trainees to become cutting machine operators must obtain a crane certificate - this is a basic requirement for working on the machine. Otherwise, we support anyone who wants to continue their training. We don't have a fixed system for this, but instead respond individually to each trainee.
In addition to our usual benefits, we give each trainee an iPad for professional and private use when they start their training. We also pay for the textbooks.
In the past, we have given trainees the opportunity to do an internship abroad several times as part of the Erasmus program. Most recently, an apprentice spent two weeks in Finland in September 2023.
If you perform well in the company and at school, we allow you to shorten the training period by six months.
Very large. So far, we have been able to take on almost all trainees, with a retention rate of 95%. One of our primary training objectives is to take on trainees as employees.
